Innovative projects
Over the past three years ODK has launched several innovative projects, including the PD-14 family of new-generation engines for civil aviation, a new engine for military aircraft and high-speed helicopters, and gas turbine stations for power generation and natural gas pipelines. These projects aim to deliver a high-tech Russian product that will remain competitive internationally over the next 40 to 50 years.
- In 2010 the SaM146 aircraft engine, jointly developed with France’s Snecma, became the first Russian engine to receive an EASA certificate. The SaM146 can now be used with commercial aircraft, including the SSJ100 jet.
- As part of the ODK project to launch production of helicopter engines in Russia, the company has successfully completed the tests of the new TV3-117VMA Series 02 engine, which is made using many Russian components.
- In late 2010 ODK began tests of the PD-14 core engine, which is being developed for the future MS-21 aircraft. This milestone was reached only a year and a half after the launch of the project, which is a major achievement. The PD-14 is the first independently designed Russian engine in the past 20 years.
